This series is a newly original animation that is going to form a new Yu-Gi-Oh! history. The story starts in Domino City many years after the legend of Yugi Mutou and other people. It's an adventure in such a developed world and involves evolved duel disks.
The main feature of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is at the theme of animation, the future world of Domino City. It's such a modern town with high-tech residents, skyscrapers, stadiums, and even dueling system. This city is called Neo Domino City. Riding Duel is a new dueling system introduced in this series. It is a speed duel applying the latest high-tech motorcycle with duel disks called D Wheel. The duelists are competing in Riding Duel that still focuses on card game with new master rules.
Categories Action Action anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting. Coming of Age In the strict sense the Coming of age describes a young person`s transition from adolescence to adulthood. In anime the term is used in a more general sense where the protagonists have to face a challenge, make an important decision in their life, take on responsibility, or learn a lesson, and by overcoming these obstacles they reach a higher level of maturity. Large Breasts Focus on larger than average breasts. Pretty common in anime. Usually involves adolescent girls or fully grown women. Plot Continuity Consistency of the characteristics of persons, plot, objects, places and events seen by the viewer. A single linear focused plot is highly continuous. A truly random plot is highly discontinuous. Proxy Battles In our terms, a proxy battle is a battle where humans use creatures/robots to do the fighting for them, either by commanding those creatures/robots or by simply evolving them/changing them into battle mode. Often the training aspect is also involved, or in some cases the proxies are nothing more than holographic representatives of some other variation of competition (like for example a card game). While many popular shounen anime fit under this category, it`s not limited to shounen anime. SciFi Science fiction stories usually focus on how situations could be different in the future when we are more technologically advanced; due to either our own achievements or having met with other civilizations whom we have learned from. Shounen A style of anime and manga intended for boys, characterized by high-action, often humorous plots featuring male protagonists. The camaraderie between boys or men on sports teams, fighting squads, etc. is often emphasized. Unrealistically attractive female characters are also common (see fanservice), but are not a requirement. The art style of shounen also tends to be less flowery than that of shoujo. Time: Future Anime that fall under the future category are the ones that have a society that could have originated from ours. In most cases it should go hand to hand with sci-fi since we expect the future to consist of advanced technology, however, in the case where it`s explicitly stated in the story that the anime takes place "x years into the future", the state of technology doesn`t matter as long as it`s long into the future. The anime can be set in an alternative universe not tied with our own, as long as it has a futuristic feel to it. This category sports quite a lot of anime, mostly stemming from SciFi, but not necessarily only from there. Tags anything can be awesome Sometimes normal just doesn`t cut it, you need to make it awesome, no matter how mundane it is.
Let`s throw in some gripping orchestral music, lighting changes, different camera angles, something! Don`t write like a man, write like an Evil Overlord! Exaggerate your expressions and gestures, speak with excessive intonation, and if all else fails, throw in some close-ups, slow motion, and Ominous Latin Chanting! With practice, even you can turn something like eating chips into an epic battle of light and dark. calling your attacks "GIGAAAAAA DRIIIIIILLL BREAKEEEEEERRR"
Having a special attack is always a must but not impressive enough. Every special attack needs a name. A really awesome and outstanding name which is easy to remember and even easier and impressive to yell. Because it just is not enough to name your attack. No, to unleash the full power of your attack, you have to call its name in your most MANLY and LOUDEST voice.
It does not matter whether it is a martial arts move, a magical spell or flying drills from your mecha, if you can`t call its name, it just isn`t nearly as cool or effective. Not a requirement but wearing shades while calling your attack makes it at least twice as cool, moreover giving your mecha or magical companion shades too results in an immeasurable level of awesomeness, bringing down every enemy just through the POWER OF YOUR VOICE.
A standard feature of practically every mecha, mahou shoujo, high fantasy, or martial arts anime. card battle no description set yet cards no description set yet CG In Anime, usually hand-animation-like rendered 3D graphics. Like machines (buses, cars etc.) that are easy to hide the fact that it`s in fact computer generated. It can also be procedural water, (oceans/lakes etc) and other VFX. Many particle-effects (water sprinkles from hair, star effects, kaleidoscopes) are also CG. Some things are virtually impossible to animate without computers in the small budgets of TV anime, namely complex mechas (examples: Basquash mechas, Tachikoma from GitS: SAC). deus ex machina When the story has been spun so wildly and the plot has been driven so deeply, when all resources are exhausted and the linear truth stands so proudly at the end of the road, ready to bring the never-ending adventure to its epic conclusion... The writers kick you in the behind and say "Screw that!! Suddenly... UFO`s!!! No, wait, Werewolf UFO`s!!! Bet you didn`t see that coming!"
It`s the old-Greek form of solving your broken story because it was too much work to do it all over again, or you`ve already shown stuff that compromises what you wanted to do. It`s finding out about a better dragon on a whole different planet because you`ve already been revived 3 times and that`s the cap. It`s breaking a spaceship and "oh wait, there`s an exact copy built in secret by an unknown guy on the other side of the planet, and you can use it free of charge". It`s Doraemon`s pouch, on every single episode. duelling on bikes no description set yet Engrish Engrish is actually a mispronunciation of English, as can be the result of someone, who does not have English as their primary language of origin (such as Japanese or Chinese). Occasionally characters in the original Japanese dialogue version of an anime will speak in English... however; this often still requires the assistance of subtitles, for while the words are meant to be said in English, the sentence structure and letter pronunciation may still be strongly related to the person’s primary language. friendship The feeling of trust, kindness, and friendship between a group of high school students for example, is a central theme of this anime. gender bender Term used to refer to a person who takes on the role of their opposite gender. This often only reaches to the extent of cross-dressing (involving physical appearance and clothing only), but in rarer cases, involves a total gender swap (which seems to be more common in anime) - where the willing or unwilling victim receives a body opposite of their original gender (either permanently or temporarily), with all natural parts per their new body fully (or just all-out amply) included.
Example of cross-dressing gender bender: "Maria Holic" Examples of body-swap gender bender: "Kashimashi: Girl meets Girl", "Birdy the Mighty Decode" great animation The anime sports exceptionally well made (smooth, detailed, beautiful) animation. great CG no description set yet near future The setting resides within a place in time belonging to the not too distant future.
The storyline will usually fall within a 1 to 5 year(s) time frame from the present, occasionally reaching as far as what may be considered a short-term-generation (approximately 20 to 30 years, or the time frame relevant to the age common to having children, thus starting a new generation).
Anything more would be considered “distant future”. ore no taan A Japanese way of saying "it`s my turn". May be used to show that the anime contains turn based elements. psycho faces The character tend to make weird or scary faces. That includes, but is not limited to: popping veins, eyes with different sizes, miniature pupils, grins, evil grins, showing incredible tongue, licking something and/or drooling. serious business For some people it`s just a card- or boardgame. For others it is not just a matter of life and death - it`s much more important than that.
Serious business basically describes a situation, when a show revolves around an activity where a sizable portion of the in-series population takes it far more seriously than it should. If something`s popularity rivals that of Elvis, or if there are mainstream schools ded to it instead of teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic; it`s serious business. summon chants The anime characters recite a chant while summoning a powerful weapon/magic/monster or different things. summoning Instances when a character calls-forth things of which they command to perform or assist with certain tasks or take place in battles. Most summons respond to the summoner as their master.
Summoning is common in "proxy battle" titles, where various creatures or robots/mechs are the most called upon. twins Twin siblings featured in the cast. weird hairstyle The haircut of at least one of the characters on this show is plain funky, and will always stand out `boldly`. It is all about the ultimate in extreme hairstyle changes.
