Based on the satirical mahjong manga by Oowada Hideki originally serialised in the Kindai Mahjong Original manga magazine published by Takeshobo, then switched to bimonthly serialisation on Takeshobo's other mahjong manga magazine Kindai Mahjong in April 2009.
The premise of the story is that international diplomacy is settled on the mahjong table, with real-life politicians depicted as masters of mahjong. The title, Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku (Reform with no Wasted Draws), is a parody of Koizumi Jun'ichirou's slogan, "Seiiki Naki Kaikaku" (Reform with no Sanctuary).
Although based on real-life politicians, the characters are, as the disclaimer notes, "works of fiction and not really related to any real-life people".
Categories Alternative Present Anime that fit in the alternative present category usually have technology and society that is very similar to ours, but with differences in both, history and culture, which sometimes are blatantly obvious, but sometimes harder to place; this one can at times be very subjective. Comedy Anime whose central struggle causes hilarious results. These stories are built upon funny characters, situations and events. A comedy anime is laced with humour and sets out to provoke laughter from the audience. Japanese humour can be a bit strange to westerners, so if you`re new to this type of humour, just bear with it; it`ll most likely grow on you if you`re a fan of other kinds of comedy. Original Work: Manga Manga is the lifeblood that drives the anime industry. Everything and its mother is based on manga. However! There are exceptions where the manga was not the basis for the anime. It`s common practice to make manga adaptations of many popular anime, there`s a manga based on Evangelion, and two (one shounen and one shoujo) based on each of Escaflowne and Mahou Tsukai Tai. Also it`s quite common to release manga and anime versions of a story in parallel, for instance Nadesico and Shoujo Kakumei Utena. There are also cases where an anime continues in a manga, or reverse, as in the case of Angel Beats! and Angel Beats: Heaven`s Door. Seinen A subset of anime or manga that is generally targeted at a 18 - 25 year old male audience, but the audience can be much older with some manga aimed at businessmen well into their 40s. Sports Sports anime revolves around a recreational physical activity or skill. In addition they often adhere to certain genre conventions, the emphasis on training and practice in preparation for competition, characters desire for self improvement, and pursuit of a specific goal. Tags anything can be awesome Sometimes normal just doesn`t cut it, you need to make it awesome, no matter how mundane it is.
Let`s throw in some gripping orchestral music, lighting changes, different camera angles, something! Don`t write like a man, write like an Evil Overlord! Exaggerate your expressions and gestures, speak with excessive intonation, and if all else fails, throw in some close-ups, slow motion, and Ominous Latin Chanting! With practice, even you can turn something like eating chips into an epic battle of light and dark. battle of wits There is some intellectual battle between the characters. They each might attempt to discern what the other knows and/or could be planning. Then, rather than simply relying on the use of raw power, try to deduce an effective strategy to foil their opponent(s). The battle of wits can be in the center of the intrigue or just a side story. Examples: Death Note, Code Geass, Valkyria Chronicles calling your attacks "GIGAAAAAA DRIIIIIILLL BREAKEEEEEERRR"
Having a special attack is always a must but not impressive enough. Every special attack needs a name. A really awesome and outstanding name which is easy to remember and even easier and impressive to yell. Because it just is not enough to name your attack. No, to unleash the full power of your attack, you have to call its name in your most MANLY and LOUDEST voice.
It does not matter whether it is a martial arts move, a magical spell or flying drills from your mecha, if you can`t call its name, it just isn`t nearly as cool or effective. Not a requirement but wearing shades while calling your attack makes it at least twice as cool, moreover giving your mecha or magical companion shades too results in an immeasurable level of awesomeness, bringing down every enemy just through the POWER OF YOUR VOICE.
A standard feature of practically every mecha, mahou shoujo, high fantasy, or martial arts anime. epic Epic is all about scale. Whether it is the vastness of the anime’s universe, the grandeur of the protagonist’s heroic journey, or the anime’s over-the-top, pulse-pounding visual style — when the anime becomes larger than life and draws the viewer in with an overwhelming sense of awe, it can be described simply as Epic. gar When a male character is so manly that otherwise straight male viewers find themselves attracted to him, they are said to be "GAR" for the character.
Originally started as a misspell of "Gay for Archer", the poster writing it as "Gar for Archer". Since that day forward "GAR" has been used to describe the exact opposite of the initially intended "gay".
Nowadays "GAR" is used to describe characters that have reached the utmost levels of manliness. Said levels being judged looking at:
- The character`s build (the more muscles he has the manlier he is). - The ability to shout his attacks (GETTA BIIIIIIMU!, ROCKETTO PAAANCHI!, ATATATATATATA!!), though this is not necessarily a must (i.e. Archer tends to simply call on his attacks unlike Lancer who shouts out his Gae Bolg). - And finally the power to bring manly tears for the viewer (through either a speech brimming with awsomeness, a manly death, the end of the series, all of these combined etc.). hilarious male lead character no description set yet it`s time to duel Individual characters frequently face each other head-on, usually for a prize. mahjong A Chinese board game for four players. manly tears Somewhere down the line, it became the "norm" that boys don`t cry. The scenario does not matter; shedding tears is the ultimate no-no in terms of what you can and cannot do as a man (at least in the West, anyway). But there comes a time when a man`s emotions do get the better of him, and they pour forth - as prerequisite an impassioned speech may or may not be present - by cascading down his cheeks. These are what we like to call "manly tears". Extremely powerful. Not limited but often used in hot-blooded / super robot shows. Examples include Yuusha Ou GaoGaiGar, Getter Robo and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
The opposite of manly tears are "girly tears". politics From commies to fat capitalist pigs, all the stuff done by the "guys with the power", mainly evil tactics for gaining more power over the masses.
Watching this title may remind you why CNN is boring. predominantly male cast The anime features a mostly male cast, i.e. female characters are rare.
Example: Reverse harem setting with a plethora of bishounen. reactions! no description set yet serious business For some people it`s just a card- or boardgame. For others it is not just a matter of life and death - it`s much more important than that.
Serious business basically describes a situation, when a show revolves around an activity where a sizable portion of the in-series population takes it far more seriously than it should. If something`s popularity rivals that of Elvis, or if there are mainstream schools ded to it instead of teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic; it`s serious business. the rule of cool Physics be damned, logic is for fools. It works because its awesome. It`s pure cool fuel. visible aura Characters are surrounded by a visible energy field usually representing inner strength, but not restricted to only that.
