Unrealistically attractive female characters are also common (see fanservice), but are not a requirement. The art style of shounen also tends to be less flowery than that of shoujo. Shounen Ai Shounen Ai means boys love, and thus explores what happens when two boys (or men) fall in love. This is not to be mistaken for Yaoi which is a hentai genre. This is not. Meaning no graphical sex. Super Power Be it an ancient Greek Hercules, a cybernetic muscle-man, or a fourteen year-old girl in a mini-skirted sailor suit. As long as they have super powers, they`re in the show. Time: Past Anime that takes place in the past or clearly seems to take place in the past in case of an alternative universe. This category should almost always go together with one of its sub-categories, because the past can either be a depiction of a historical event(s) or not, in which case it would be alternative past.

Kids love them but they can also often turn into an annoyance. exorcism Eviction of demons or other spiritual entities from a person or place which they are believed to have possessed. funny expressions The facial expressions of the characters may change so quickly or unexpectedly distorted that hilarity will ensue. This anime incorporates elements of this folklore. kitsune The Japanese word for "fox". Often depicted as intelligent magical beings who are able to change their appearance to look human or almost human. Onmyoudou Onmyoudou is a traditional Japanese esoteric cosmology, a mixture of natural science and occultism. It is based on the Chinese philosophies of Wu Xing and Yin and Yang, introduced into Japan at the turn of the 6th century, and accepted as a practical system of divination. These practices were influenced further by Taoism, Buddhism and Shintoism, and evolved into present-day Onmyoudou approximately in the late 7th century.

The restrictions have been lifted, and as of 2006 anyone may study Onmyoudou. Examples would be Misuzu`s `gao` in AIR, Sakura`s `hoe` in Card Captor Sakura, Suiseiseki`s `desu` in Rozen Maiden or Ayu`s `uguu` in Kanon (as well as several other characters in the same show). powerful main character Characters that are so powerful that they can tear apart their foes with ease. These powers may well start off relativity weak, gaining in power as the anime progresses. social class issues no description set yet somewhat materialistic The story shows that everything requires an adequate payment. At some point it can be painful for the character or/and the viewer. spirits no description set yet supernatural Things happen in this anime that seem to be beyond nature or physical laws.
