Based on Ono Fuyumi and Fujisaki Ryuu's Shiki horror mystery manga.
Sotobamura is a small village with around 1300 inhabitants. It is a village which is connected to not even a single highway. An isolated village in which old customs, such as the burial of the dead, are still practiced.
One day, the corpses of 3 persons are found. Although Ozaki Toshio, the village's lone doctor, feels uncertain, he treats the deaths as normal occurrences. However, in the days following, the villagers die one after the other.
Is this mere coincidence, an epidemic, or something else entirely?

Also it`s quite common to release manga and anime versions of a story in parallel, for instance Nadesico and Shoujo Kakumei Utena. There are also cases where an anime continues in a manga, or reverse, as in the case of Angel Beats! and Angel Beats: Heaven`s Door. Seinen A subset of anime or manga that is generally targeted at a 18 - 25 year old male audience, but the audience can be much older with some manga aimed at businessmen well into their 40s. Time: Present Somewhere between past and future Tragedy Tragedy is a form of drama characterized by seriousness and dignity, usually involving a conflict between a character and some higher power, such as the law, the gods, fate, or society. Vampires A super-human species, with long fangs used to penetrate the tender neck of young females, to drink blood. Violence Physical force against self or other, compelling action against one`s will on pain of being hurt. Tags dark atmosphere no description set yet disturbing Watching the show may cause the viewer to have unpleasant feelings. ensemble cast The plot focuses on a group of characters rather than a single one/ eternal loli The loli keeps the appearance of a very young girl forever.
Character traits: The loli may be cursed, may have been resurrected, or may be as vicious, evil, and powerful as Nosferatu. The age can vary from 100 years to several millennia. But the typical "girlie" clothes and some of the behavioural patterns are still those of a 5-7 year old girl. glowing eyes Eyes that glow in the dark, often from malicious intent. gore Very violent scenes appear in the show. Don`t be surprised to see people dying in a violent and painful way.
Oh, and with lots and lots of blood splattering all over the place. great opening This anime contains a wonderful use of animation and/or music/vocals during the opening theme.
Usually, especially the music is quite catchy. I gotta crush on you It happens when a person develops an interest in someone that seems mysterious, smart, sexy, cute, fun, etc. Basically just someone you would like to spend more time with. Crushes are usually one sided and they happen more frequently among middle and high school students.
A person with a crush usually has a hard time expressing or conveying his/her feelings to that other person. That other person is usually clueless of the situation. Sometimes that person knows about the crush, but feels annoyed or embarrassed by it for some reason.
Having a crush on someone does not mean you are in love with that person, at least not yet. Depending on the situation crushes could develop differently (for better or worse):
1) Larger scale interactions (love).
2) Dating relationships.
3) Scary obsession or stalker type situations.
4) Disappear over time or distance. improbable haircuts The haircuts are so "stylish" and "rugged" that no one in his right mind would want to be seen with it... or the haircut is simply physically impossible. manly tears Somewhere down the line, it became the "norm" that boys don`t cry. The scenario does not matter; shedding tears is the ultimate no-no in terms of what you can and cannot do as a man (at least in the West, anyway). But there comes a time when a man`s emotions do get the better of him, and they pour forth - as prerequisite an impassioned speech may or may not be present - by cascading down his cheeks. These are what we like to call "manly tears". Extremely powerful. Not limited but often used in hot-blooded / super robot shows. Examples include Yuusha Ou GaoGaiGar, Getter Robo and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
The opposite of manly tears are "girly tears". many dead no description set yet mysterious The story is quite mysterious, because important, probably "creepy", information is held back, giving the anime a "sense of foreboding". mystery The mystery film is a sub-genre of the more general category of crime film. It focuses on the efforts of the detective, private investigator or amateur sleuth to solve the mysterious circumstances of a crime by means of clues, investigation, and clever deduction. (Source: Wikipedia) noitaminA noitaminA is a Fuji Television programming block ded to anime, with the intention of expanding the target audience beyond the typical young male demographic. not for kids This anime contains themes definitely NOT suitable for kids (e.g. rape, gory dismemberment, suicide, etc.). obsessed stalker no description set yet one very annoying character For some reason sometimes there is one very annoying (lead) character that will not just die or shut up. real-world setting no description set yet rural town The rural town is one that is either isolated from what is considered "normal" society or is so far from the city that there is not a lot of buildings. Some rural towns don`t have the technology of the city (and some want it that way) while other just seem to be behind the times. Most of these town have some sort of farming culture or inn culture.
Sometimes the town is rural as to delay help from getting there sooner for more horror genre anime. sense of foreboding The anime starts off quietly, everything seems to be fine, but from episode to episode the signs that something ominous is about to happen increase. E.g. a typical mystery setting. some weird shit goin` on WTF? supernatural Things happen in this anime that seem to be beyond nature or physical laws.
Examples: Ghosts, vampires, monsters, telepathy, telekinesis, etc. troubled male lead no description set yet unique character designs Each decade in anime seems to have a certain way characters are presented. This lets the more observant viewer actually date those anime.
In this anime, though, the character designs do not follow the trend of the time, leading to a quite unique and distinctly different looking protagonists.
This nonconformity may slightly irritate the viewer, should the designs be too outlandish or strange. yandere A character trait involving a personality initially loving and gentle that becomes psychotic or deranged, often brutally so.
