Based on a manga series authored by Yoshino Hiroyuki, featuring art by Satou Ken'etsu, serialised in the shounen manga magazine Champion Red.
"The High Ancient Circuit — The witnesses of its existence: Maria of Sword, Magdalena of Thunder, Noah of Gold, Moses of Silence, and David of Resurrection. These five items are the only ones in existence, and cannot be reproduced or copied. Whatever it is that gave birth to the circuit itself is also completely unknown..." — from the anime's intro
The Church sends Sasha the Martyr on an important mission with Katsuragi Hana to retrieve the long lost Magdalena of Thunder. Apparently a girl at the Japan Seirei Private Academy, an all-girl school, is endowed with this artefact. The Adepts sect is also aware of the Magdalena of Thunder's location, and has begun to interfere...

Action Action anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting. Boing The sound breasts make when they bounce. Size may vary, but mainly involves larger breasts in tight or otherwise sexy clothing. Partial or complete exposure may occur, usually emphasizing the boing-effect as they come out. Not capable of bouncing means no boing. Comedy Anime whose central struggle causes hilarious results. These stories are built upon funny characters, situations and events. A comedy anime is laced with humour and sets out to provoke laughter from the audience.
Japanese humour can be a bit strange to westerners, so if you`re new to this type of humour, just bear with it; it`ll most likely grow on you if you`re a fan of other kinds of comedy. Earth That big mud ball that most of us live on. Ecchi Ecchi, or etchi (エッチ), is a common Japanese word meaning “indecent”, “lewd”, “frisky” or “sexy”, while its usage can be compared to the word “naughty”. The term is used when vague sexual content, such as skimpy clothing or nudity, is prominent. Gigantic Breasts Focus on unnaturally large breasts. Usually involves early developed adolescent girls or older women. Large Breasts Focus on larger than average breasts. Pretty common in anime. Usually involves adolescent girls or fully grown women. Nudity Nudity is the state of wearing no clothing and exposing the bare skin or intimate parts.
Especially gratuitous fanservice shows tend to show their characters frequently without any clothes, though often hiding genitals through the means of additions like steam. Original Work: Manga Manga is the lifeblood that drives the anime industry. Everything and its mother is based on manga. However! There are exceptions where the manga was not the basis for the anime.
It`s common practice to make manga adaptations of many popular anime, there`s a manga based on Evangelion, and two (one shounen and one shoujo) based on each of Escaflowne and Mahou Tsukai Tai. Also it`s quite common to release manga and anime versions of a story in parallel, for instance Nadesico and Shoujo Kakumei Utena. There are also cases where an anime continues in a manga, or reverse, as in the case of Angel Beats! and Angel Beats: Heaven`s Door. Pantsu "Panties" in Japanese. Upskirt views in various positions are typical, however all forms of partial or fully exposed panties are accepted. Exposure is usually accidental, but may also be deliberate. Pantsu views may be exclusive to the viewer without impacting any characters. Bikinis are not pantsu. Romance Romance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem. School Life Since a large part of the anime audience still takes part in school life or is visiting college, it is only natural to choose a setting the audience can identify with, be it elementary, middle, or high school. For the older viewers a college setting with more mature real-life problems is appropriate. And since clubs take up so much time in the lives of students, these are obviously also important. Slapstick Slapstick humour is generally recognized by lots of physical abuse, horseplay and practical jokes. Also often seen are impossible situations, using sounds to illustrate impossible stunts that aren`t shown on-screen and to create tension for audience anticipation. Small Breasts Focus on flat-chested (pettanko) to slightly protruding breasts, often so mockingly or humorously. Usually involves children or adolescent girls. Super Deformed A caricature style often seen in anime when the character shows extreme emotions, like fear, anger, happiness, surprise, or shame. Seen as cute, as part of humorous comedy. The character`s face suddenly turns into a simplified version, the body will usually also deform into that of a small child (oversized head, short limbs, extra-large tears). Super Power Be it an ancient Greek Heracles, a cybernetic muscle-man, or a fourteen year-old girl in a mini-skirted sailor suit. As long as they have super powers, they`re in the show. Time: Present Somewhere between past and future

boobs in your face The protagonists face is pressed into a female`s cleavage. This may be accidental, or actually intended by the female character. borderline hentai Breaks the bounds of "excessive fanservice".
While the physical interactions and dialogue between characters may be extremely sexual, the most sexual situations do *not* have sex itself take place.
Specifically descriptive of containing all the plentiful features of (excessive) fanservice in addition to the interactions between characters being quite sexual — at most, sexual in NATURE only. This means physical touching such as groping, molesting, or bondage will focus primarily on the revealed (i.e. nude) upper portion of the body or through/over clothing on the lower half of the body. This is all WITHOUT actual sex acts (penetration, etc.) taking place. breast fondling Part of the slapstick comedy in ecchi anime between female characters. E.g. a girl envious of another girl`s bust size may tease the latter via fondling. Usually playful and mischievous, not sexual.
Alas, now the tag can also imply "boob grabbing", where a male character will either accidentally or intentionally touch the breasts of a female. The former is a comedy element, as in "accidental infringement", the latter can be interpreted as a form of harassment. butchered foreign languages Characters, voiced by Japanese voice actors, "speak" foreign languages, successfully making the audience`s ears bleed.
The real foreigners in the show do not seem to notice that their native languages are being massacred. Christianity Christianity is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as presented in the New Testament. Christians believe Jesus is the son of God, God having become man and the saviour of humanity. Christians, therefore, commonly refer to Jesus as Christ or Messiah. (source: Wikipedia) cross-dressing Featuring character(s) who sometimes wear clothes traditionally worn by and associated with the opposite sex; typically a male who cross-dresses occasionally by habit or compulsion.
Cross-dressers often hide their cross-dressing identity for a long period of time and thus tend to become adept in accurately portraying the opposite sex in terms of voice, movement, behaviour, temperament, etc. damsel in distress The damsel in distress is usually a young, nubile woman placed in a dire predicament by a villain or a monster and requires a hero to dash to her rescue. Often used to unite the cast of a show for this one goal, to make them put differences aside and become a band of nakama.
Examples: Sakoshita Yanagi from Rekka no Honoo, Yuuki Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi or Higurashi Kagome from Inuyasha. excessive fanservice Content that may be suggestive yet generally pleasing will be found in abundance. Usually this is the premise of something borderline-hentai with a large amount of strong sexual themes but without any actual sex-acts taking place.
As the — fanservice — tag states:
‘Fan Service’ typically consists of a variety of racy or sexual content — usually female but sometimes male - aimed to catch the viewer`s attention, with something suggestive and generally ‘pleasing to the eyes’. More often than not this involves nudity, yet can simply have to do with panty shots / flashing of undergarments, bathing suits, the jiggling of breasts, or other such eye candy.
While the term is used primarily with respect to Japanese animation, any gratuitous content within entertainment may be considered to be ‘fan service’. freak of the week On a pretty much regular basis — weekly or episodic — the protagonists are confronted by some "strange being", usually in an all-out battle.
This can make the anime quite repetitive. funky Russian no description set yet Gainax bounce A term that has come to describe often exaggerated, very jiggly, fluid, and painstakingly detailed animation of female characters’ bouncing breasts. The term has its roots in Top wo Nerae! — Gunbuster, Gainax’s first OVA (1988), in which the Gainax bounce is found unabated in the three female characters of Noriko, Kazumi, and Jung. heterochromia Heterochromia Iridis is a medical condition, where an individual has at least an eye with more than one colour or two eyes of entirely different colours. lactation Visible milk being excreted from the breasts of a character. master-servant relationship To some genres, this would suggest a genuine pairing where one person exists to serve another person, such as in some action/dramas where the pair becomes united by destiny as partners — fighting or battles between different pairs/partners will usually be a dominant part of the story.
In other genres, this suggests a relationship where one person may be occupied as or even forcefully treated as a servant or slave to the other who designates themself the master — these services usually apply anywhere from tsundere/romantic-comedies to ecchi or to the more extreme in hentai. paper clothes Usually a fanservice tag. Worn clothing appears paper-thin and takes little abuse to be shredded or torn from the body. This is common in ecchi anime where the main storyline involves some type of fighting but consists primarily of dialogue and fanservice (Ikkitousen and Platonic Heart). Various girls’ clothing exploding as if made of rice paper is a very enticing prospect. predominantly female cast The anime features a mostly female cast, i.e. male characters are rare.
Example: A Catholic all-girls school setting. ridiculous premise The principal ideas used to set up the overall story are questionable at best, and are difficult to accept as rational.
It seems that the writers involved in this anime were desperate to find a new idea, creating an outlandish story background. Such an irrational plot can become quite irritating. scythe A scythe is an agricultural hand tool for mowing grass or reaping crops. It was largely replaced by horse-drawn and then tractor machinery, but is still used in some areas of Europe and Asia (source Wikipedia).
The personification of death usually has one at hand. sexual innuendo References to actions and/or situations of an intimate or sexual nature. timeout available Even in the middle of battle, lengthy discussions and planning sessions occur, while the opponents presumably stand around and take a coffee break. to watch or not to watch Anime prompting any `normal` person to ask "Why am I even watching this?".
It may be due to certain sexual scenarios, illogical circumstances, plot complexity, or maybe even the plain stupidity of the anime. TV censoring The TV version is censored and later DVD/BD releases are uncensored, so the money-grubbing capitalists can make a couple more bucks at our expense. violent retribution for ecchi behaviour One of the central vehicles of slapstick comedy with ecchi elements.
When one char misbehaves, or at least is perceived to do so, he/she gets reprimanded or whacked by another char — typically a tsundere — for ecchi (slightly perverted) behaviour. In this case it is *not* a reaction to *accidental* infringement, like tripping into cleavage.
As Asu no Yoichi! shows, the supposed "ecchi behaviour" of the male protagonist can also be over-interpreted by a tsundere. E.g. getting whacked for a nosebleed, when looking at a cute girl. yuri subtext Actions between two female characters that could be taken as or misinterpreted as being amorous in nature. zettai ryouiki Japanese for "absolute area", and refers to an area of bare skin on the legs between a skirt and knee- or thigh-high stockings.
