Everyone, School Rumble has returned! The title is, of course, "School Rumble Semester 2"!
It's the start of a new crazy school semester! Will Tenma finally confess to Karasuma? Will Harima finally be able to send his feelings across? Will Eri be more honest with herself? Will Yakumo ever be in love? Will all of these questions be answered?! Let's find out!
It's twice the comedy, twice the action, twice the romance, and twice the FUN!
Categories Action Action anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting. Androids Androids are robots created to look like humans. A very famous example is Data from Star Trek, but they need not be as human-like as him. Asia Asia is the world`s largest and most populous continent. Basketball Basketball is Netball for men, the real game that encourages dribbling and other such uncouth behaviour that was sanitised out of the ladies` version. However, it is itself woozy compared to Ulama, as the losing side are seldom publicly sacrificed. Comedy Anime whose central struggle causes hilarious results. These stories are built upon funny characters, situations and events. A comedy anime is laced with humour and sets out to provoke laughter from the audience.
Japanese humour can be a bit strange to westerners, so if you`re new to this type of humour, just bear with it; it`ll most likely grow on you if you`re a fan of other kinds of comedy. Earth That big mud ball that most of us live on. Fantasy Magic and other supernatural forms are primary elements of plot, theme and/or setting. Distinguished from science fiction and horror by not involving scientific or macabre themes respectively, though the three genres can often overlap each other to some extent. Gunfights Fights where two or more parties are firing guns at one another. Harem Harem anime is when three or more females that for some reason are in the presence of one male as a central plot element. Generally, both the girls` looks and personalities vary a lot, and most of them are interested in the one guy. Sometimes, none of the girls are really interested at first, so the protagonist has to build relationships with them. Ecchi pretty much can`t be avoided, and it`s typical to see the protagonist stamped as a pervert by some of the girls, whether he is one or not. A lot of harem anime were originally Visual Novels, since most Visual Novels revolve around controlling this one guy, trying to build a relationship with several girls.
In a story where there is one female and several good looking males it`s a "reverse harem" or "male harem". High School The upper-secondary education (not compulsory in Japan) covers the grades ten, eleven, and twelve. The students are typically fifteen to eighteen years old.
Anime centre on High School settings predominately: Plot/story-wise the coming of age is of interest - the students are almost adults (their bodies have matured, see ecchi anime) with more earnest, real-life problems. Japan Last stronghold for humanity, if Tokyo falls, it`s all over. Tokyo tower will undoubtedly fall anyway. Love Polygon A love polygon refers to a romantic relationship involving n people. Although a love triangle is not limited to just heterosexual relationships, in anime, it usually deals with two females liking one male and vice versa. Original Work: Manga Manga is the lifeblood that drives the anime industry. Everything and its mother is based on manga. However! There are exceptions where the manga was not the basis for the anime.
It`s common practice to make manga adaptations of many popular anime, there`s a manga based on Evangelion, and two (one shounen and one shoujo) based on each of Escaflowne and Mahou Tsukai Tai. Also it`s quite common to release manga and anime versions of a story in parallel, for instance Nadesico and Shoujo Kakumei Utena. There are also cases where an anime continues in a manga, or reverse, as in the case of Angel Beats! and Angel Beats: Heaven`s Door. Parody Anime that imitate other stories (can be from TV, film, books, historical events, ...) for comic effect by exaggerating the style and changing the content of the original. Also known as spoofs. It can also refer to when whole elements of one work are lifted out of their context and reused. Romance Romance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem. School Life Since a large part of the anime audience still takes part in school life or is visiting college, it is only natural to choose a setting the audience can identify with, be it elementary, middle, or high school. For the older viewers a college setting with more mature real-life problems is appropriate. And since clubs take up so much time in the lives of students, these are obviously also important. Slapstick Slapstick humour is generally recognized by lots of physical abuse, horseplay and practical jokes. Also often seen are impossible situations, using sounds to illustrate impossible stunts that aren`t shown on-screen and to create tension for audience anticipation. Sports Sports anime revolves around a recreational physical activity or skill. In addition they often adhere to certain genre conventions, the emphasis on training and practice in preparation for competition, characters desire for self improvement, and pursuit of a specific goal. Time: Past Anime that takes place in the past or clearly seems to take place in the past in case of an alternative universe. This category should almost always go together with one of its sub-categories, because the past can either be a depiction of a historical event(s) or not, in which case it would be alternative past. Time: Present Somewhere between past and future Traps A male character often mistaken as a female by other characters and/or the viewer due to his feminine appearance, behaviour, and/or language (regardless of his intention). Tags anything can be awesome Sometimes normal just doesn`t cut it, you need to make it awesome, no matter how mundane it is.
Let`s throw in some gripping orchestral music, lighting changes, different camera angles, something! Don`t write like a man, write like an Evil Overlord! Exaggerate your expressions and gestures, speak with excessive intonation, and if all else fails, throw in some close-ups, slow motion, and Ominous Latin Chanting! With practice, even you can turn something like eating chips into an epic battle of light and dark. awesome main character The show`s main characters deserve awe and worship. - This could be for many reasons including but not limited to ability, personality, strength of character.
Which is good. I mean who wants angst ridden brats for main characters these days anyway? Christmas This anime is about Christmas or has an episode relating to Christmas. curry episode Japanese curry, usually eaten as curry rice — curry, rice and often pickled vegetables, served on the same plate and eaten with a spoon, is one of the most popular dishes in Japan, where people eat it 125 times a year according to a survey made in 2005.
As such Japanese series will often de a whole episode to the characters cooking and eating curry dishes. facial distortion The characters face are exaggerated into a misshape, deformed, and almost warped. Used as comedy element to express extreme mood swings.
Differing from "Super Deformed", here only the face changes to an extreme degree, not the whole body of the protagonist. funny expressions The facial expressions of the characters may change so quickly or unexpectedly distorted that hilarity will ensue. idiotic yet lovable main character no description set yet juvenile delinquent The anime features at least one "teen" with a slightly dubious, mildly criminal lifestyle, e.g. as a "gentleman thief". love "Love is in the air"... well at least in this anime it is. machine guns A machine gun is a fully automatic mounted or portable firearm, usually designed to fire rifle bullets in quick succession from an ammunition belt or large-capacity magazine, typically at a rate of several hundred rounds per minute. ojou The Ojou ("princess") may be many things (perhaps even a Real Princess), but she is undoubtedly rich, either in her own right or by being part of an absurdly powerful family. The Ojou is noticeable by her shrill and obnoxious laugh often (if not always) while putting the backside of her hand in front of her mouth. parental abandonment In Japan it is a common custom for parents to leave their children alone at home and embark on a lifelong trip around the world once they hit the tender age of 14, sometimes even earlier. romantic comedy The usually quite subtle and subdued development of the romance between the main characters is much more direct, humorous, and slapstick-based. Thus comedy meets romance. sentou episode A sentou is a type of Japanese communal bath house where customers pay for entrance. Some Japanese find social importance in going to public baths, out of the theory that physical intimacy brings emotional intimacy, which is termed skinship in Japanese. Traditionally it is gender-segregated — men usually bathe only with men, and women with women.
Usually used for fanservice purpose as it gives the staff the opportunity to draw the characters in the nude and raise the DVD sales. sibling yin yang In real life, siblings hardly ever act the same. Fiction sometimes takes this to an extreme.
Enter Sibling Yin Yang, the occurrence of siblings that are nearly polar opposites. If he`s cool and reckless, she`s responsible and thoughtful. If she`s a spiky-haired hooligan, he`s the nerdy wimpy one. If he`s an immature brat, she`s... well, you get the picture. tsundere A character type (usually female), who is often easily agitated or combative, but other times is quite kind and caring, especially in situations involving a person they are (knowingly or unknowingly) attracted to. yamato nadeshiko Yamato nadeshiko is a Japanese word meaning "personification of an idealised Japanese woman". Basically it revolves around acting for the benefit of the family and obeying and assisting authority figures (father, husband, sometimes father-in-law or older brothers, as well as older females of similar personality traits).
Virtues include loyalty, domestic ability, wisdom, maturity, and humility. With some notable exceptions, physically yamato nadeshiko will be tall, willowy, modestly endowed, and pretty rather than beautiful, and they will have dark eyes and long, dark hair with bangs.
