In 1990 Shinjuko, Maeno Kouki enters Rin's agency, Asougi Consulting, asking for help. Taking the case sends her into the lair of Aoyama pharmaceutical. This simple case is the catalyst for events that will take Rin to the brink of death. Unfortunately no matter how painful, Rin can't die through normal means and discovering that truth places Kouki and his family in danger. Rin and her associate Mimi are immortal as a result of their contact with the fruit of immortality. They have one natural enemy, the angels that men become when they encounter that same fruit. But Rin has a very personal demon who is bent on taking her down even if that means chasing her across generations of time. At the bottom of it all is a supernatural being named Apos with a secret that could unravel all creation.

Action
Action anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting.
Alternative History
An anime that takes place in an alternative past is an anime that clearly does not belong to the future or the present, and isn`t tied particularly closely to our history, or has ties to our history but only as a premise: there are too many things that don`t make sense for the time-period. In some cases there is futuristic technology present, but the overall setting still feels that of the past. However the setting must still take place on Earth, since we can not know if the history of a fantasy world is an alternate one or not.

Asia is the world`s largest and most populous continent.
Cyberpunk
Cyberpunk focuses on computers or information technology, usually coupled with some degree of breakdown in social order. The plot often centres on a conflict among hackers, artificial intelligences, and mega corporations, tending to be set within a near-future dystopian Earth.
Dark Fantasy
Focus set on darker themes in a fantasy setting, sometimes leaning towards horror elements. Bleak and pessimistic tones often dominate. Dark supernatural beings like vampires may play a significant role.
Detective
It focuses on the efforts of the Detective, private investigator or amateur sleuth to solve the mysterious circumstances of a crime by means of clues, investigation, and clever deduction. The successful mystery film often conceals the identity of the perpetrator until late in the story, then adds an element of suspense during the apprehension of the suspect.

Ecchi
Ecchi, or etchi (エッチ), is a common Japanese word meaning "indecent", "lewd", "frisky" or "sexy", while its usage can be compared to the word "naughty". The term is used when vague sexual content, such as skimpy clothing or nudity, is prominent.
Horror
The horror cinematic genre is characterized by the attempt to make the viewer experience dread, fear, terror, or horror. Often their plots involve the intrusion of an evil force, event or personage, sometimes of supernatural origin, on the mundane world and the consequences thereof.

Nudity
Nudity is the state of wearing no clothing. Based on scientific research it is estimated that humans have been wearing clothing for 650,000 years. It is related to the concept of modesty and is sometimes used to refer to wearing significantly less clothing than expected by the conventions of a particular culture and situation, and in particular exposing the bare skin or intimate parts.
Especially gracious fanservice shows tend to show their, mostly female, characters, most often without any clothes, only hiding genitals through the means of additions like steam.

Not based on anything, the story is a new work, usually made up by the people involved in creating the anime. Generally if an original work (原作) credit is given, it will be to the studio, or director, or other members of the production team.
SciFi
Science fiction stories usually focus on how situations could be different in the future when we are more technologically advanced; due to either our own achievements or having met with other civilizations whom we have learned from.
Seinen
A subset of anime or manga that is generally targeted at a 18 - 25 year old male audience, but the audience can be much older with some manga aimed at businessmen well into their 40s.
Sex
Known as intercourse, the ultimate bond of love.
Shoujo Ai
Shoujo Ai means girls love, and as such it explores what happens when two girls (or women) fall in love. This is not to be mistaken for Yuri which is a hentai genre. This is not. Meaning no graphical sex.
Super Power
Be it an ancient Greek Hercules, a cybernetic muscle-man, or a fourteen year-old girl in a mini-skirted sailor suit. As long as they have super powers, they`re in the show.
Thriller
The thriller is a genre of fiction in which tough, resourceful, but essentially ordinary heroes are pitted against villains determined to destroy them, their country, or the stability of the free world. The hero of a typical thriller faces danger alone or in the company of a small band of companions. The protagonist may be a law enforcement agent, a journalist, or a soldier, but typically he or she is cut off from the resources of "their" organization. Anime that fall under the future category are the ones that have a society that could have originated from ours. In most cases it should go hand to hand with sci-fi since we expect the future to consist of advanced technology, however, in the case where it`s explicitly stated in the story that the anime takes place "x years into the future", the state of technology doesn`t matter as long as it`s long into the future. The anime can be set in an alternative universe not tied with our own, as long as it has a futuristic feel to it.
This category sports quite a lot of anime, mostly stemming from SciFi, but not necessarily only from there.

Twisted
Twisted indicates more than one abrupt change in plot or story. This derivation from strict linear storytelling usually makes these anime hard to follow, and at times even very confusing when several parallel plots intertwine.
Underworld
The underworld we talk about here is not to be confused with the place where people are believed to go after they die, but the general term for organized crime. It is a shady world, unknown to most people, where illegal things like murder, smuggling, drug dealing and similar are happening daily. Groups known to be acting in this world are for example the mafia or the yakuza.
Violence
Physical force against self or other, compelling action against one`s will on pain of being hurt.
Yakuza
Yakuza, also known as the Japanese Mafia, refers to traditional organized crime groups in Japan and members thereof. They have a hierarchical structure, with the "oyabun", the family head, standing on top. They also have their own code, the "jingi", where loyalty and respect are a way of life.
Yakuza members are identifiable for their, often full-body, tattoos and missing fingers, a result of the yubitsume ritual, which is a form of penance or apology.

Even when the power of love is not literally and directly responsible, the scene is often set so that the audience is left with the impression that it was "really responsible".

Immortality, the wish of many, the curse of few.
While initially this seems to be the best prospect ever, eventually the bad overweights the good and the immortal character outlives his friends, his lover and everybody else he knows. What awaits an immortal is an eternity of wandering, always keen on staying hidden, never resting for too long at a place, trying to avoid new friendships as those new friends will grow old and die as well. And if somebody is really hated by fate, he doesn`t even get to grow up before becoming immortal, staying trapped in a child`s body forever.
Living for centuries and having become disillusioned with the prospect of eternal live, many, if not most immortals wish for nothing else than to end their life.
