Action Action anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting. Americas The Americas are the lands of the Western hemisphere or (generally) the New World, consisting of the continents of North America and South America with their associated islands and regions. Comedy Anime whose central struggle causes hilarious results. These stories are built upon funny characters, situations and events. A comedy anime is laced with humour and sets out to provoke laughter from the audience.
Japanese humour can be a bit strange to westerners, so if you`re new to this type of humour, just bear with it; it`ll most likely grow on you if you`re a fan of other kinds of comedy. Earth That big mud ball that most of us live on. Gunfights Fights where two or more parties are firing guns at one another. Mafia The Mafia is a secret crime group working in many parts of the world that was created in Italy more than 200 years ago. The mafia make money from crime. Original Work: Novel Note that novel means book with words in paper, so no comics and no "visual novels", which should go under manga and dating-sim - visual Novel/erotic game respectively.
Note that it can be applied to novels as we know them but also the typical light novels for teens and young adults, which are common in Japan and aside from being short include a number of illustrations. A single linear focused plot is highly continuous.
A truly random plot is highly discontinuous. Romance Romance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem. Seinen A subset of anime or manga that is generally targeted at a 18 - 25 year old male audience, but the audience can be much older with some manga aimed at businessmen well into their 40s. Slapstick Slapstick humour is generally recognized by lots of physical abuse, horseplay and practical jokes. Also often seen are impossible situations, using sounds to illustrate impossible stunts that aren`t shown on-screen and to create tension for audience anticipation. Swordplay The act or art of using a sword or similar weapon skillfully. Time: Past Anime that takes place in the past or clearly seems to take place in the past in case of an alternative universe. This category should almost always go together with one of its sub-categories, because the past can either be a depiction of a historical event(s) or not, in which case it would be alternative past. Time: Present Somewhere between past and future Twisted Twisted indicates more than one abrupt change in plot or story. This derivation from strict linear storytelling usually makes these anime hard to follow, and at times even very confusing when several parallel plots intertwine. Underworld The underworld we talk about here is not to be confused with the place where people are believed to go after they die, but the general term for organized crime. It is a shady world, unknown to most people, where illegal things like murder, smuggling, drug dealing and similar are happening daily. Groups known to be acting in this world are for example the mafia or the yakuza. United States The United States of America (commonly referred to as the United States, the U.S., the USA, or America) is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district. Violence Physical force against self or other, compelling action against one`s will on pain of being hurt.

1930s style no description set yet American stylized The city setting may be reminiscent of New York and other large cities in the 1920s. The skyscrapers all look a bit run down. antihero The antihero (sometimes `antiheroine` as feminine) is generally considered to be a protagonist whose character is at least in some regards conspicuously contrary to that of the archetypal hero, and is in some instances its antithesis. awesome characters One or more cast members are considered awesome for one reason or more. awesome comedy duo A pair of strongly contrasting characters with incredibly quick and witty dialogues bring about much hilarity. awesome storyline The storyline is intriguingly crafted: The suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat, the plot twists will very much surprise, the character development is both convincing, and entertaining.
This is how anime should be! black humour It`s funny, but you should probably be ashamed of yourself...
Comedy that employs situations that nice people should not be laughing about. brutal The anime features several scenes of unrefined violence. Some of the protagonists display unrestrained primal behaviour. countless main characters Have trouble remembering the protagonist`s name in your standard hero/heroine anime? Well, I`m sorry to say it, but this one has numerous characters who form a significant basis for the main plot line.
This anime doesn`t rely on the strength of just one main character`s qualities to carry the show, but utilizes an array of characters, who, each in their own way, are integral to this show`s existence. epic Epic is all about scale. Whether it is the vastness of the anime’s universe, the grandeur of the protagonist’s heroic journey, or the anime’s over-the-top, pulse-pounding visual style — when the anime becomes larger than life and draws the viewer in with an overwhelming sense of awe, it can be described simply as Epic. fast-paced story Hold onto your hats, this anime`s storyline is relentless.
The characters don`t get time to take a breath as events keep both them and the viewer on a roller coaster ride of revelation and excitement!
Hopefully it all makes sense... gore Very violent scenes appear in the show. Don`t be surprised to see people dying in a violent and painful way.
Oh, and with lots and lots of blood splattering all over the place. great action sequences no description set yet great opening This anime contains a wonderful use of animation and/or music/vocals during the opening theme.
Usually, especially the music is quite catchy. in medias res In medias res, also medias in res (Latin for "into the midst of affairs (lit. into mid-affairs)"), refers to a literary and artistic technique where the narrative starts in the middle of the story instead of from its beginning. The characters, setting, and conflict are often introduced through a series of flashbacks or through characters relating past events to each other.
Probably originating from an oral tradition, the technique is a convention of epic poetry, one of the earliest and most prominent examples in Western literature being Homer`s Odyssey and Iliad. Virgil`s Aeneid began the tradition in literature of imitating Homer, continued in Torquato Tasso`s Jerusalem Delivered, John Milton`s Paradise Lost and "Inferno" from Dante`s Divine Comedy. George Lucas`s Star Wars saga was told using in medias res. instrumental OP Just music in the opening — no lyrics (vocals) at all. jazz A style of music originating in the Southern USA in the early 20th century, emerging from Blues and Ragtime. People suffering from psychosis can be described as having lost their contact with reality and deteriorated their social functioning to the point of becoming deranged. Sometimes, these people will try to achieve some absurd goal through trampling on other people, and that`s the point they become villains. Usually, psychotic villains will not show themselves to suffer from mental disorders at first, and will seem like completely normal people; however, as their story unfolds and the show progresses towards its climax, it is usual to have psychotic villains become more and more deranged, to the point of being best described by "batshit insane". surprisingly good Contrary to previous speculations or in spite of reviews, some would say the anime is not as bad as one might have originally thought it would be.
Example: Someone hates horror anime, but watches it anyway. Finds the level of horror bearable and is really surprised how well the backgrounds, story and characters mix to create a really interesting — usually way above average — viewing experience. train The rail-road bound means of transportation plays a part in this anime (plot device). Either simply as a vehicle to get from place to place, or possibly as trigger for an important memory from the past. twisted The world and the people in it just should not work this way. Morality, normal emotions and common sense have little place here.
This is not simply off-the-wall wacky, rather some of the actions and events in this anime are just plain wrong! unique Imagine one day sitting in your chair and oddly staring obliquely. Yet suddenly, in that brief moment of disarray; the clouds of vast nebulae rush past you, unfurling in grand majesty while sprinkling every color imaginable to push your imagination to its fundamental limit.
Yeah, uniqueness is just that. who wants to live forever There`s no time for us.
There`s no place for us.
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away from us.
Immortality, the wish of many, the curse of few.
While initially this seems to be the best prospect ever, eventually the bad outweighs the good and the immortal character outlives his friends, lovers and everybody else he knows. What awaits an immortal is an eternity of wandering, always keen on staying hidden, never resting for too long in one place, trying to avoid new friendships as those new friends will grow old and die as well. And if somebody is really hated by fate, he doesn`t even get to grow up before becoming immortal, staying trapped in a child`s body forever.
Living for centuries and having become disillusioned with the prospect of eternal life, many, if not most immortals wish for nothing else than to end their life.
