Tokyo Butei High school--- It was a special school where armed detectives, also known as "Butei" are being brought up. Tooyama Kinji is a sophomore student who has the unique body which activates a "super mode" when it was stimulated by "something". He tries to hide it to others in order to live a peaceful life. But trouble came to find him when he became a victim of a bombing incident, where he met the Butei high "Assault" department elite, Aria H. Kanzaki.

This may be accidental, or actually intended by the female character. boy meets girl A classical type of plot in story writing, where the story begins with a boy meeting a girl leading to romantic development between the two. More often than not the boy loses the girl later on and has to find her again. bullet time Bullet Time refers to a simulation of variable speed (i.e. slow motion, time-lapse…) and is characterized both by its extreme transformation of time and space to show normally imperceptible and un-filmable events, such as flying bullets.

Most infamous scene using that technique, Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix film. childhood friend Plot device: The usually main protagonist encounters or “lives with” a friend from childhood times. By default they have a very close relationship that usually interferers with other present-day relations.

Typical scenarios: Male protagonist has been looked after by the female childhood friend ever since they were kids, representing the default “girlfriend” in a harem anime. Or the childhood friend has been away in some other city or foreign country and suddenly returns surprising the main protagonist, who had almost forgotten about this friend (as in “Sudden Girlfriend Appearance”). In the latter case, protagonist and friend may be bound by some unreasonable “childhood promise”. facial distortion The characters face are exaggerated into a misshape, deformed, and almost warped. Used as comedy element to express extreme mood swings.

Differing from "Super Deformed", here only the face changes to an extreme degree, not the whole body of the protagonist. girl with katana At least one female protagonist is armed with a katana (Japanese sword), and uses this weapon proficiently. girls with guns From pistols and sniper rifles to fully automatic machine guns and grenade launchers - some or many of the female characters have selected guns as their weapon of choice, and they`re not afraid to prove it. protection complex A main character will be practically obsessed with the protection of one or more other characters. This desire to protect may be so strong, it could unconsciously subject and influence the character`s attitude and behaviour towards situations or other people in general. The obsessive protector will feel it is their mission in life to protect the other character, possibly viewing themselves as worthless or a failure if that single duty is to be slightly off from perfection. schoolgirl A female protagonist who attends school, usually 6 to 18 years of age. special abilities It could be just one individual or it could be the entire population; either way, the presence of a special power/ability is an integral part of this anime. split personality One or more of the characters have multiple personalities. The character usually switches between these throughout the show. tsundere A character type (usually female), who is often easily agitated or combative, but other times is quite kind and caring, especially in situations involving a person they are (knowingly or unknowingly) attracted to. under one roof For some flimsy reason the main protagonist (e.g. male in harem / female in reverse-harem) is living together with many other (female/male) characters under the same roof, i.e. apartment, house, or mansion. yandere A character trait involving a personality initially loving and gentle that becomes psychotic or deranged, often brutally so. zettai ryouiki Japanese for "absolute area", and refers to an area of bare skin on the legs between a skirt and knee- or thigh-high stockings.
